The rooms at the Marriott Sugar Land have clearly been recently renovated and are actually quite nice—modern, clean, and comfortable. However, the mattress in our room left something to be desired. It felt thin and lacked the support you’d expect from a Marriott-level property. An upgrade there would go a long way. The lobby area, on the other hand, seems to be stuck in a bit of an identity crisis. Some modern elements are sprinkled in, but they clash with the more traditional, outdated aspects—creating a somewhat disjointed first impression. The furniture is noticeably worn and stained, which doesn’t reflect the quality of the updated rooms upstairs. The small store in the lobby is convenient but needs more attention—it was out of several common items and didn’t appear to be restocked frequently. One other thing to keep in mind: the area around the hotel is extremely busy. It took valet over 20 minutes to retrieve our vehicle, which was frustrating, especially in the Texas heat. Overall, it’s not a bad stay, and the room updates are a definite plus—but there’s still room for improvement, particularly in the common areas and service.
Great location & family-friendly, but rooms need improvement We stayed at the Marriott in Sugar Land Town Square and overall had a good experience. The location is excellent—walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops, and even First Colony Mall. There’s parking available, and it’s clear this hotel is a popular spot for soccer teams and conferences, as it has a conference hall too. It’s very family- and kid-friendly, with a nice swimming pool and easy access to a lovely green area right in front of Sugar Land City Hall, where the kids can run around, play, and enjoy snacks. It’s a peaceful and comfy spot to relax with family. However, there are a couple of downsides. The room size is a bit small, and unfortunately, the air conditioning vents were dusty, which triggered allergies for me and my kids and caused some skin irritation. Also, the bed sheets weren’t very comfortable—not sure what the issue was, but it affected our sleep a bit. Still, if you’re coming for shopping, events, or with kids, this hotel is a solid choice for convenience and location. With some attention to room cleanliness and comfort, it could be an excellent stay.
This is a very nice looking hotel. The lobby is beautiful and the check-in staff was friendly. The room was very nice and well cleaned. BUT... The hotel is very close to the highway and there was loud traffic noise all night. The worst part was housekeeping entering our room at 9:30 in the morning. That was a very rude awakening. They seriously need to train their housekeeping staff. I mentioned the incident to the front desk clerk as I was checking out and she just gave me a shocked face but didn't really say anything to address the issue. Can't say I'd recommend this hotel if you value peace and quiet.
