Stayed at the Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria for six nights on a business trip. Very nice location next to 610, but also very quiet, as the rooms have good soundproofing. The hotel rooms themselves need some renovation and have not been looked after for a long time. The rooms are basic but have all the necessary amenities. The check-in process was smooth, and the welcome lobby and breakfast place are very good. The breakfast spread is so-so and not very lavish, although at this rate, one would expect a few more items for breakfast. Our request for a well-done omelette with specific ingredients was met politely by Omar and Sylvia at the restaurant. The laundry service was nice and accurate, although the ironing quality was not as good as I would have liked it to be (compared to other Marriott hotels in other parts of the world). There is a small mini-mart at the reception from where one can buy water/some necessities, and some food if needed. This place is close to the Galleria Mall, and although I heard it has a shuttle service to the mall, we never experienced it. It's also close to the uptown which has some restaurants at a walking distance. All in all, its a decent place but a little pricey.
The hotel is nice. The rooms are outdated. There are two working elevators out of three. My concern is this hotel does not give a strong human connection. There is no one engaging with guests in the lobby at all times. I have seen employees walk behind the front desk with food which is totally unprofessional. One thing that is concerning, I was able to hear females laughing in the back behind the front desk, while someone is in line at the front desk. I wish there is someone to greet near the elevator; I just want to feel special. I recommend management to conduct hospitality training.
Super expensive rate. What we got for it: 1. clogged sink 2. Very old mattress (collapsed in the middle with two people). I felt like I was in a taco every night. 3. Light fixtures were oxidized and rusted in the bathroom. 4. Curtain has stains, Wall has stains. 5. TV remote barely worked. 6. Crumbs on the room chair 7. Pool was closed this wasn't advertised or shared on any website when booking.
