Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung

Very nice hotel. Stayed on the 25th floor, which is a more expensive type. The rooms have been refurbished, so it’s very modern and new. Beds are comfortable and a good view of the city. There’s a pool and hot jacuzzi. The gym is also good, same floor as the pool. Apparently in Taiwan you are required to wear a swimming cap , which will cost 100twd to purchase. Breakfast on the 5th floor, good variety. For my room type, apparently I get a free “main meal” dish on top of the buffet breakfast. I WAS NOT INFORMED about this unfortunately, and only found out on the last day of my stay from reception when checking out! Hope the management improves the breakfast staff and reception upon check in. There’s also the seven scholars lounge, which has some simple food and drinks. Met a friendly lady staff there. Laundry room for guests on 8th floor. Washing machine and dryer machine that uses coins- convenient for longer stays. This one also was not informed upon check in, I had to ask. Surrounding area near the hotel has some small local eateries, a food supermarket for groceries, family mart/ 7-eleven and Starbucks all very nearby. All in all a pleasant stay.

If you want to stay in good hotel with reasonable price in Koahsiung, I would like to let you know this hotel. This hotel fee is a little bit higher than Han-hsien but it is more clean and updated facilities in room. Always a higher fee tell us the truth, "better if increasing budget".

Great location and size of the room. But I got a room with kitchen, there is no pot and pan for me to use for cooking. So it’s useless. Most random is the kitchen has a shower. Also staff not too friendly, they don’t want to help us make reservations for dinner or massage. Kept asking us to just go. Nice buffet.
