My partner and I really enjoyed our time at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto. We used a guest of honor pass and upon check in, they offered us a complementary taxi, which we ended up using when we checked out to go to Kyoto Station. Once we walked to the front of the hotel, we were immediately greeted by Dennis, who is the real MVP! He grabbed all of our belongings and made sure we were comfortable checking in. Also as globalist members, you get free welcome drinks each night, which we made the most out of. The rooms were nice and spacious, but definitely have seen their age. Overall, would stay here again! By the way, if Hyatt management is reading this: give a nice raise to Dennis! He definitely deserves it!
All the staff that was there were super friendly; it is English-friendly too, so do not worry. The food is of the quality of a 5-star hotel, and it's near a lot of interesting places. The feeling of both nature and modernity can be felt in the hotel and because of things near it. 5/5
The hotel has a modern feel in the lobby area but the rooms and much of the building have an older almost hospital like atmosphere. The location was convenient and the rooms were decent overall but compared to other Hyatt Regency properties in Asia this one feels dated and could benefit from renovations. Minimalism appears to be their design style but it’s not executed very well here. The spa in particular felt overly basic almost empty and clinical. Not sure how this qualifies as a 5-star hotel. Feels more like a 4-star at most.
