This hotel feels more like a three-star property rather than the four-star experience you'd typically expect from a Hyatt. While the golf course and lobby are nice, the rooms and hallways feel quite dated. The carpet throughout has a noticeable musty smell, which really detracted from the overall experience. On the bright side, the rooms and beds were clean, which I appreciated. However, updating the old carpet would go a long way in improving the feel of the hotel. Also, the A/C units are a bit frustrating—they don't truly work on "auto" mode and instead stay either constantly on or off. I even called to confirm this wasn’t user error. The location is convenient—only about 15 minutes from downtown Carmel and close to Monterey as well, which makes it easy to explore the surrounding area. Still, I probably wouldn’t return unless there were no better options available.

we stayed here one night in order to visit with family on our way back from spending several days in Carmel. When I booked the room it was my understanding that it was a resort and spa in the room. Wright quoted was a little north of $800. The room I requested was a standard room with two double beds overlooking the golf course. When we arrived, that room was not ready so we were offered a room overlooking the parking lot and they kindly waved the resort fee of $75 for the inconvenience. When we arrived at our room, we were disappointed as it truly was just a standard hotel room with zero amenities. Most spa and resorts provide a bathrobe or complementary Water, but none of this was available. At the most this hotel room should be valued at 300 to 375 per night maximum. The fact that the Hyatt corporation chooses to rate this room at $812 per night is absolutely disgusting and it is example of corporate greed. The exterior of the building is old and has architecture from the 1970s. Painted in a dark green. With Outdated carpet in the hallways the hotel and surrounding buildings feel old. we do not golf so we did not experience that, nor did we go to the spa. I agreed to the rate at check-in so I paid my bill and all the associated fees and taxes that came with it bringing us to around $940 if you remove the bar receipt. I’m posting this because if you decide to stay here, make sure you understand all the fees and make sure you understand that the room you are getting is extremely overpriced. Upon departure, I asked the clerk at the front desk if she would pay $812 per night for this room and she smiled. This will be the last time I stay at a Hyatt.

I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. I booked two rooms and paid for breakfast for both at check-in. However, when I received the receipt at check-out, the breakfast charges were included twice. I requested a refund, and the hotel said they would look into it and process it. A few days later, the refund was issued, but then a few hours after that, a strange amount was charged to my card, and only part of that amount was refunded. I contacted the hotel again, but all they said was to wait for the refund. They made two unauthorized charges on the credit card I provided. This hotel is completely untrustworthy, and their customer service regarding this issue was terrible. Each department just passed the responsibility to another, avoiding accountability altogether. I will never go back, and I strongly advise anyone reading this to stay away if you don’t want unauthorized charges and the worst customer service experience.
