Hôtel Le Dormeur du Val

Unfriendly cold place. Nobody at the reception upon arrival. Nobody speaks english. Stupid design of the place. They tried to make an "urban" look but there is no atmosphere at all. Neither in the small lobby, the abandoned bar or the small rooms. View on a parking lot of the railway station. Unfriendly owners.

No, simply no ! Worst night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel and I've stayed in hundreds. Not sure what it was but probably related to the air conditioning... regular sounds of running water and even worse annoying buzzing sounds that made it impossible to sleep. I thought maybe just a problem with my room, but we had two rooms that were not even adjoining and it was exactly the same. Truly awful experience, avoid at all costs. Update... it seems from the hotel response that if anyone in any of the other rooms "misuses" the air conditioning you're not going to sleep... quite unbelievable ! Just to stress, we did not have the air conditioning on.

Greeted by a very friendly guy who was happy to welcome us into the hotel. Unfortunately, we then encountered without doubt the most horrendous person we have ever met. I believe she was the Manager, however surely someone who works in hospitality would know how to greet and manage guests, unlike this person. We were shouted at like naughty children for leaving a side gate open by mistake and then upon returning one evening at 9pm, we looked for a bottle of water as there were none in the rooms. We made the fatal mistake of opening a cupboard near reception in case there was a bottle of water, but we were confronted and then screamed at by the Karen who said how would we like it if she came to our house and looked through the cupboards for a bottle of water? Well, I guess if you were paying £800 for two nights, then I would have thought that was perfectly acceptable. Well not for this nasty piece of work it wasn't! The Karen went on and on and on about it also saying we had to show her respect. Got to give it to earn it yube itch. A few minutes later, we decided to return downstairs to add extra security to our bikes and made another fatal mistake of doing a micro whistle as we went out the back door, only to be screamed at yet again by the crazy one who said anything else and she would actually throw us out of the hotel immediately! Rather than tell her that she needed help, we went to bed. But, she then continued to shout at us again for having the audacity to talk outside to a ex-colleague who hadn't been seen for years, proclaiming that we had to respect the other guests. We were guests too you know... So in summary; Be nice to your guests who are paying your wages. Incredibly bad service. Totally unacceptable behaviour. Come to this hotel they said, no thanks! Hotel Dormeur Du Val is the worst hotel I've ever been to by a country mile.
