Excellent location overlooking the river in Auxerres, short walk to the main parts of this town with its interesting history. Small car park off-road, so book in advance if you need it. (Plenty of street parking for a fee). Newly redecorated room was nice. Breakfast excellent, good choice.
We were disappointed. The hotel is fairly modern and right across the street from the river. The river view from our room was very nice. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The room on the other hand... The thermostat was broken, missing button to set the temperature, and "repaired" with tape. While the lighting was good at the head of the bed, there remaining half of the room was in darkness as there was no overhead light. The first morning the shower had no hot water but the sink was fine. After we complained, the second morning the shower was fine. However the third morning we again had no hot water in the shower. The buffet breakfast was mediocre with weak coffee so we later went to a wonderful local bakery instead.
Was there on 16 Nov and left on 17 Nov, I left a ring in the room when check out. I remember clearly that it is on the table, right next to the coffee machine. However, called to the hotel in 2 hours, they said not able to find it at all. Since the room is auto locked, and I believe only the cleaner went to the room after us. Highly suspicious of the stolen behaviour. Even though the hotel claimed that the cleaner worked in hotel for a long time but that doesn’t mean they did not steal the ring. Anyways, hope to make others be aware of it. I also reported to the police station. Please take my unfortunate incident as warning, be careful when staying in the hotel and please hide your belongings from the cleaner. Thanks! Also the quality of the room is below average : 1. The water pressure is low. 2. The tables - one near the window and one on top of the fridge are very old and looks fragile. 3. Heater not working well so the room temperature was so cold. If you have better options around that neighbourhood, go for it. If not, just be careful and low expectation. Thanks!
