Hôtel Mercure Strasbourg Palais des Congrès

We visited Christmas time, good location - tram station is near and it's a short ride to the center. It's convenient if you arrive by car, the hotel has parking. Nice view from our window. The lobby was nice and decorated. The room wasn't good. Bad air conditioner, a bit of draining problem in the tab, no heating in the showroom, all together it was a bit cold in the room. needs renovation. Also poor room design- wasn't convenient, for example we needed to switch the lights one by one (5 lamps in the room and no central switch, or maybe it wasn't working), outlet was far from the bad on the floor level, towels were located far from the bathtub and sink. All together we didn't like the room and felt it was overpriced.

The hotel is ok, but I'm not amazed. It looks quite old and if you look closely you can see that a lot of the stuff should have been replaced a while back. The facilities also feel quite old (swimming pool, changing rooms etc.). It is true that not that many hotels in Strasbourg have them so at least it's something. They have a small fitness studio overlooking the pool and a sauna which I actually enjoyed as I was there by myself. Breakfast was each day in a different space. I was not very impressed with the offer, but it's decent. The bed is comfy and the room spacious. Two things I didn't like: they have a sign that encourages you to reuse the towels (which I appluad) but then they use plastic cups in the bathroom. The second thing relates to the restaurant. On the first night I had a burger there and it was the worst hamburget I've ever had. My colleagyes weren't very happy with their food either. I would probably not recomment eating there.

Room was super old. Beds were hard and pillows were too soft. We could hear every door shut around us so made it hard to sleep or relax. Bathroom, while bigger, has seen better days. Carpet in room was super old. Breakfast was pricey and not good, too small gor the amount of people. Coffee was disgusting. Good location to tram. Pool was nice and warm. Staff was friendly. Cheaper price for going to christmas market but next time I wpuls pay more for a nicer hotel.
