Hôtel Relais des Landes Demeures et Châteaux

Very nice hotel out in the countryside. Excellent restaurant and pretty gardens. Most rooms are in the main building, but they also have several modern individual cabins on the grounds. We stayed in one and it was comfortable, quiet and private. Very friendly and helpful service, but they can get very busy when a large bike tour group arrives (they told us it’s every Sunday night), and our bar order was forgotten - but that was the only negative of our visit.

What a treat! This was a great stopover not only in terms of the physical structure and quality of the attention to detail, but also in terms of service. What is more, the restaurant was absolutely exceptional. I strongly recommend the tasting menu.

Disabled father, travelling with 6 year old daughter refused room service. A very unpleasant place to stay. The staff are extremely inconsistent. Ask 3 different staff members the same question and received 3 different answers. At check-in we were told the restaurant was full but room service is available between 19:00 - 20:30. Went for a swim, then back to the room for showers. At 19:30 called to order room service, only to be told room service is not available when the restaurant is busy. Went to reception to explain our situation and that at check-in we were told room service is available. To which he replied "He can't help what someone else told me". Asked for a bowl of fries for my daughter as she is only 6 and should not have to go hungry but they refused. The wifi is worse than Dial-up modems from 1997. There were more flies (Dead and alive) in our room than furniture and furnishings. At the very least they should be able to provide paying customers, with the services offered on their website. But that might require hard work and business sense. Needless to say, on our return journey we will avoid this hotel.
