Hôtel & Spa Thalazur Arcachon

Review for the Residence (not the hotel). In the most beautiful part of Arcachon across the road for a beautiful beach with great sunsets and a few bars. Lovely pool, salt water. The rooms are rather small for 6 people (we were 5), with only one toilet. The Kitchenette is very small and not big enough for real cooking. You can only really boil pasta. A lot of the plantings are new so need time to develop. It feels like all the snagging isn’t done yet and a few things don’t work in the room and the staff are learning as they go. For instance they forgot to uncover the pool by 10am until I asked. All in all a nice place. Room to improve but not a high quality self catering option like for instance the Pine Cliffs in Portugal. Over priced.

Room service not fit for purpose only operates at the same time as all restaurants in France. Having a room service facility that only operated during normal restaurant times completely defeats the purpose of room service. This service is for eating out with normal restaurants times. How are travelling guests supposed to eat - the kitchen was closed between 3-7PM, I could not access food anywhere because of the restricted eating hours in this country. Eating after 7pm is too late. The restaurant opening hours are are far too stressful and restricted it’s impossible to know when things will be open. This would not happen at a 4 star hotel anywhere else in the world. The people seem lazy they never seem to be at work.

Our two-night stay at Hotel Thalazur Arcachon was a major letdown. We specifically requested a quiet room, yet both mornings, we were rudely woken up at 7:30 AM by staff loudly chatting right outside our door. After the first disturbance, we reported it to the front desk, who assured us they would address the issue—but they never did. The next morning, the same thing happened... This level of disregard for guest comfort is unacceptable, especially for a hotel of this standard. Worse still, the staff’s failure to follow up showed a complete lack of professionalism and care. If you're looking for a peaceful and well-managed stay, look elsewhere.
