Hôtel Vertime

This is a very comfortable and well-run hotel. The staff are eager to accommodate you and answer any questions (even if your French is limited like ours). The man who checked us in was very keen to show us a booklet of all of the restaurants in town and give us his evaluation of each. As a result we are very well while in Les Sables-d'Olonne. The rooms are tasteful and clean. The rooftop bar is great for a drink while you look out over the harbour, although it can get very windy up there. The pool is beautiful but small. There are only six sun loungers so it is competitive to secure one. But the beach in Les Sables-d'Olonne is huge and beautiful, so that's always there if you don't get a spot. Breakfast offers a very wide range of options done to a high standard, including hot food as well as continental breakfast. It is a 15 minute walk to the beach and a shorter one to the port where all of the best restaurants are. You can also either walk or get a short ferry across to La Chaume, which is very pretty.

We feel so lucky to have stayed at Hotel Vertime at the last minute for the Vendee Globe launch. Our suite overlooked the Vendee Village and was so clean, comfortable, and beautiful. We had breakfasts, a lunch and dinner at the restaurant. The food was very tasty and fresh. It is quite apparent that the chef and staff take pride in their meal service. The best thing about this hotel is their personnel. Each staff member we interacted with was kind, friendly, patient with communication, and clearly wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Many provided extra tips on how to see the race launch the best, made sure we visited the rooftop, and confirmed that our meals and beverages were to our taste, etc. We highly recommend Hotel Vertime, especially if, like us, you aren’t very fluent in French 😉

Very average experience. First the rooms - Poor design. The bathrooms had no door so you have to close the door of the bedroom so the other person can’t use the toilet or main door. It’s quite inconvenient. We asked for 3 rooms with twin beds specifically. They agreed and upon arrival as well claimed all 3 rooms have twin beds. But this wasn’t the case. One room had a queen bed. The staff is just generally uncooperative and don’t care about providing a great experience. The restaurant staff was great though! Great points for the location and rooftop pool and bar. The breakfast buffet is great too.
