Hôtel Victor Hugo & Spa

First the good things: the location is quite central in Besançon and there is secured parking (for a fee). The downside is that the facilities are a bit old. What really bothered me is that despite the high price tag (around 150 per night for 2 adults + 1 child) you still need to pay extra to use the pool and the wellness space, which you don't find out until you're on site. Also the wellness area closes at 9 and opens fairly late, so if you're just stopping over, you won't have a chance to use it. Breakfast isn't included, and at 18 EUR pp is quite pricey. There's no free coffee or water either, just some powder coffee in the rooms and water you need to pay for. The rooms aren't super fancy, but at least ours had a bath tub. I wanted to book a regular double room since the child is small, but the reception made me book a three-bed room, which costs more. The third "bed" is just a convertible couch that's not very comfortable. It would be OK if it wasn't that expensive and/or they wouldn't charge you extra for everything.

Service depends on staff, not terrible at arrival, fantastic in the morning. The rooms are spacious but not well decorated, old and worn with good mattress though. Parking is 10€, charger available at reasonable price (33ct). Location is good and access easy. Great pool for real swimming. For 90€ it would be great value, 120 is too expensive
