Ikonik Lex

I really liked the Ikonik Lex. About a 6-8 minute walk from the bus that comes from the airport. Pretty much a direct walk from bus stop to hotel. Nice, quiet neighborhood. Check-in was easy, and no wait. The staff was nice and helpful. The room was clean and modern. The temperature of the room was nice upon arrival. Large bathroom. I booked here because it was between the airport and cruise port. Great price. I would book here again.

Booked two rooms here for three nights. Being on a budget, we had to compromise on location. On the positive side a GVB bus/tram pass took us from Schipol airport by bus as part of the deal, leaving a 15 minute walk. On the downside, every visit to the city also involved a 15 minute walk to the tram stop, then a twenty minute tram journey. Outside of the hotel was a Spar and an Italian restaurant and that was it. The hotel was situated in a nice residential area and we never felt uncomfortable walking on an evening. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but on a warm day, as residents, we thought it ok to sit outside. We were told we couldn't do this unless we bought something. This seemed a bit officious given that there was absolutely nobody out there... We booked room only as breakfast was expensive for a buffet breakfast. Food generally was expensive in the hotel, hence perhaps why there was nobody outside (and hardly anyone inside) eating. Lower your prices a bit and you'd get more trade. We did sample the Italian over the road which was ok'ish. The rooms were nice, well equipped and the hotel gave you the option of having your room cleaned or not - a good environmentally conscious choice to give customers. If we were to go back to Amsterdam this hotel wouldn't be one we'd return to, but mainly because of its location and food prices.

Overall a good hotel, but not ideal for people with allergies I had a good stay overall — the hotel is clean, well-located, and the staff were friendly. However, I need to point out that there is a very strong scent throughout the reception area and hallways, possibly from cleaning products or air fresheners. Luckily, the room itself didn’t have this smell, but the fragrance in the common areas was intense enough to trigger my asthma. If you have allergies or respiratory sensitivities, this could be a real issue.
