Ilunion Málaga

Fantastic hotel with brilliant staff. We were an utter nuisance the whole time we stayed here, and the staff were so friendly and helpful with all of our dumb demands. Great location close to the central bus and train stations, and some restaurants. Interesting view over the bustling port district. Breakfast includes champagne!! Unless you're super-rich I wouldn't recommend the luxury suite - the budget rooms are about as nice at a lesser cost.

This was our second stay at the hotel. It is a lovely hotel and all the staff we encountered were very nice. A special mention must go to the staff on duty at breakfast and the one in The Botanical restaurant where we ate on a couple of evenings. Our room was on the first floor overlooking a side street, but was very quiet. The location is very handy for Maria Zambrano train station (train runs directly to/from airport). However, the hotel is a long way from the city centre, attractions and restaurants. There is a gym and pool/sauna on site, but we did not use these facilities.

Definitely not a four-star hotel: Paid €20 early check-in fee and got an abandoned room that seemed no one has ever lived there (not sure if the front desk lady did it on purpose or not). The window stuck open and AC was not working, the room was super hot and humid. Had to switch to another room late at night, and that room had a strong sewage smell. Glad I only stayed a night and did not encounter any pest issues as others have mentioned.
