IntercityHotel Mannheim

Excellent hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable (business room, with 2 chairs!) and beds comfy, but needed to ask for extra pillows. Don't bother having dinner in the hotel though. We made that mistake. Very ordinary food, and not cheap. Extra mention to Signora Federica at reception. She was fantastic, very helpful, cheery and spoke fluent English.

Avoid, if you can. No slippers, no large towels in the room. No room cleaning BUT they knocked and woke me up in the morning at 8am the day I was leaving even though check-out is supposed to be at 12pm. I had the highest category, business plus room, the very top floor. It is overlooking the train tracks, even that is loud!! Even though they say: "Room cleaning is only carried out on request. Please let us know the evening before and your room will be cleaned free of charge." They still knocked at 8am and woke me up, even though I did not ask for room cleaning the day before or that day. Breakfast is okay.

My experience at Intercity Mannheim was lackluster. The bathroom especially the shower had a potent smell of and visible mold and mildew. The temperature would not regulate even when trying to use the meter in the room. You are provided with one towel, which is not helpful for a 3 plus night stay. The worst part is the constant sound all night of the train station! You will need earplugs or noise canceling device if you’d like a good nights rest.
