Intercontinental Appi Kogen Resort

One of the best ski resorts I've ever been to. We got a double queen bed room with a garden attached. It's super spacious, not just by Japanese standards but by any standards. I also love the decor, very tastefully done. The ski service is also great. We can easily store rental equipment at a ski service room which is right in the hotel. The ski coach can meet kids right outside the ski service center and take them skiing directly. Breakfast buffet choices aren't big but whatever is served is high quality, including its coffee. It has an indoor pathway to the crown plaza, which has many restaurants and shops.

Beautiful location and architecture; large and light rooms with private balconies/gardens; excellent facilities and superb staff. I spent five days here at the end of February. We had fresh snow every night and blue skies and virtually empty, well-groomed slopes during the day. The location of the hotel was perfect: ski-in, ski-out with a valet service that arranged delivery and return of ski gear as well as looking after the equipment overnight. The hotel's onsen was perfect for soothing sore limbs after a day of skiing. The staff and service were great. They anticipated my requirements, rooms were cleaned at the requested time, and all the staff I encountered were eager to help. The breakfast and afternoon tea were very nice in a relaxed atmosphere. I was of two minds about writing this review, wanting to keep this place to myself and not share it, as I think it's a great place. I will certainly be back.

The staff's enthusiasm for making our stay exceptional was evident from the start, and their attention to detail truly made us feel like valued guests. The accommodations were nothing short of spectacular! Our cozy room offered stunning views of the ski slopes, and the plush bedding ensured a restful night's sleep after a day of exhilarating adventures on the slopes. Speaking of adventures, the ski valet facilities at the hotel is extremely convenient. The well-groomed trails are just a few meters away since this hotel has ski-in/ski-out facility. After a day of skiing, we found ourselves indulging in the luxurious amenities the hotel had to offer. From soaking in the intimate and expansive onsen under the starlit sky to savoring delicious après-ski treats at the lobby, every moment was pure bliss. One highlight of our stay was the live music at the lobby and at the cozy bar upstairs. The talented Italian singer Mr. Salvatore serenaded us with the all time favorites as we sipped a cocktail or a beer with complimentary snacks. Our stay was nothing short of magical, and we're already counting down the days until we can return for another snowy adventure at Appi Intercontinental!
