My partner and I celebrated our anniversary/engagement at this hotel and the whole experience was exceptional. We visited in June and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Our trip was primarily about relaxing and the intercontinental got that spot on. Excellent food at both restaurants, really friendly staff, everything was incredibly easy with the concierge app and the staff would drive you around in a buggy at the drop of a hat! Our highlights were happy hour at the pool bar and getting massages at the spa (we booked in for 2.5 hours of therapy!) Don’t let the rainy season scare you.
An absolutely marvelous resort hotel located right by the sea. It really makes you feel like you are on holiday once you arrive at the resort. Overall service was great however the rooms are slightly dated, and the location of the hotel itself is quite far at about 1 hour's drive from most shops/bars/restaurants on the island. Otherwise we had a fantastic stay and I would certainly recommend for at least 2-3 nights.
Stayed here for work. The resort is really nice and our room was large with a balcony and had a great view over the sea. The food I. The restaurant was tasty and the staff were friendly and efficient. Lots of wildlife around and we saw a couple of (harmless) snakes - one on our balcony and one at the entrance to the lobby. The staff were great in catching and later releasing them. Cocktails and nibbles are in served every day from 5-7 pm. The three downsides are: 1) it is built on the side of a steep hill and so some villas are up a steep pathway. This means buggies are needed and is inconvenient if you leave something in the room. 2) our room was fortunately attached to the lobby annex so was only a 1 minute walk to the lobby. However, the planning was not good - Thailand is a tropical country so heavy afternoon rain and thunderstorms are not unusual. There was no continuous cover from our room to the lobby, only cover along part of the corridor. Incredibly, the last 10 metres from the corridor to the lobby is completely uncovered so you either get a bit wet or you need to try to attract the attention of the staff for an umbrella. 3) the location is quite remote which may suit some. But it essentially means that unless you want to pay for transport to a nearby town for a massage or local meal, you are somewhat confined to the resort. As I said, this may suit a lot of guests.
