This hotel was WAY overpriced for what it is. They're very proud that it's almost 100, and maybe 99 years ago it was cool, but it is not anymore. There was no ice on any floor; out of the ±5 floors that had ice machines, only 1 actually functioned, but it was constantly out. When I contacted the Front Desk, they were rude and wanted me to wait until after our event even started to contact Room Service. It wouldn't be as bad but the fridge didn't work either. I asked the Front Desk (twice) to fix or replace it and they did not. We ended up keeping our food in the sink filled with ice, so we spent the weekend with no sink. There is no microwave in the room. The main restaurant does not serve alcohol, or at least that's what they told s at approx 10AM. We had these reservations for months and were stuck with a room right next to the elevator which was somewhat noisy. The TV doesn't have a guide channel you can flip through, only one that slowly scrolls so you have to wait for the whole thing to loop. Bed was pretty comfy, but they have no blanket, only a top sheet and a huge, thick quilt that was hot even with the room AC on 50°.

This hotel is about two decades past its prime. VERY late 1990’s luxury aesthetic. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are well kept. If you plan on doing a lot of walking, consider that this hotel is at one of the highest points in SF. Every return walk is an intense uphill climb.

After my stay at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins, I actually find myself feeling quite disappointed. The Nob Hill location is prime real estate, with an amazing view to be found from any room. I also found the staff very friendly and informative l. My issue is with the lack of actual standards hotel amenities and features. Even a two star hotel will offer some sort of complimentary water. At the Mark Hopkins, I found myself drinking from the tap through a complimentary glass. This was all to avoid the exorbitant fees attached to the mini fridge scam they like to pull on their guests. Speaking of scams, after my stay I discovered a $150 unspecified charge from the hotel. I left my room in great shape, had not touched anything in the fridge, and never ordered room service. Where did this fee come from? I truly feel the current owners are doing an injustice to the location they find themselves lucky enough to operate in.
