InterContinental New Orleans by IHG

A nice hotel, makes a great first impression with wonderful staff greeting you and checking you in. They were especially good to check us in at 0930 too. Rooms are a really good size, with good sized bathroom and separate dressing room, great room for us with 2 children staying in the room. Beds very comfortable and excellent air conditioning. There are some signs of age in places, like the shower is a dated design, but nice power and hot. Rooftop pool is small, but enough to cool off, shame it is in a courtyard so no view or atmosphere. Good sized gym, with more than the basics, so no complaints there at all. Balcony is nice to have, but the seal on the door isn’t great and you do get some outside noise, but certainly nothing of concern. Then, breakfast, well that is one of the best I’ve had in a hotel for a long time. First class, high quality ingredients make, with excellent service makes all the difference. It isn’t busy and is table service, with a bigger option including a chef making omelets and things but with high quality ingredients. None of the processed stuff many chain hotels use. Then there is fresh strawberry, raspberry’s blackberries etc. this is like a 5 star for quality. All is served with great tasting coffee, so a brilliant start to the day.

I stayed at the InterContinental New Orleans recently and had a great experience. The hotel is well-located, close to the French Quarter but far enough to feel calm and relaxed. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely maintained. What stood out most, though, was the staff — everyone I interacted with was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. From check-in to housekeeping, the service was consistently excellent. They made everything easy and stress-free, which really added to the overall quality of the stay. I’d definitely return.

We were assigned to this hotel, because we attended a large scale event. The beds were very comfortable and I felt it was pretty quiet considering it's downtown location. We could hear the trolley, but that didn't bother us. The St. Charles Streetcar stop is just steps away from the hotel and many things are a walkable distance. I was disappointed that the rooms were not equipped with a fridge or microwave. The space for a mini-bar would be better utilized as a fridge. We didn't utilize breakfast services, because of the cost. Rooftop pool was clean, but small. The stairs were for 'emergency use' only -- making the wait for the elevator a little long at times. Overall, a comfortable place to sleep, but lacked some amenities I typically search out in a hotel.
