I just spent 4 glorious days at the InterContinental Pattaya. The property itself is beautiful — peaceful, well-maintained, and tucked away from the chaos of central Pattaya. It feels like a proper escape. The rooms are comfortable, the views are lovely, and the general atmosphere is relaxed and refined. But what really stood out? The club lounge breakfast. It’s not a buffet — it’s full à la carte, and possibly the best I’ve had at any hotel. Impeccable Japanese sets, perfectly done steak and eggs, delicious Thai options, and fresh juices that actually taste fresh. Every dish is plated with care, served to your table, and done just right. Truly, it was mind-blowing. If you're into food, this alone might justify the stay. Of course, that level of service comes at a cost — and I don’t mean price. The staff are working flat out. One moment they’re taking detailed orders, the next they’re brewing custom coffees, running dishes, clearing tables. You can feel the strain. They’re doing a great job under pressure, but they’re stretched thin. And while they stay polite and professional, fatigue is visible. That theme carries through the stay. A friend arranged a birthday surprise for me — lovely idea, beautifully done setup… but the card had the wrong name. So close. Same with the small things: the lounge nuts ran out just as I’d started enjoying them. The shower had two unlabelled knobs — a guessing game between hot/cold and overhead/handheld. Not huge issues, just moments that remind you this place is almost excellent. Service overall was friendly, but often rushed. Staff sometimes sprint into action before you’ve finished speaking — which leads to small mistakes. Not due to apathy — just a system under pressure. The hotel has the bones of a great property, and I truly enjoyed my stay. But it does feel a little tired around the edges. Still, the team on the ground is doing everything they can to hold it together — and for that, they deserve real credit. Would I return? Yes — especially for the food, the peace, and the effort of the staff. But I hope next time, the rest of the operation catches up to their level.
Overall, a pleasant stay at the Intercontinental Pattaya, I would give it 3/5. It was a nice stay but nothing exceptional. To start with the positives: The hotel is nice and well-maintained. Beautiful views of the ocean from both restaurants if you are dining outside. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Good breakfast buffet but service is a bit slow. Negatives: The hotel is quite far from the central area, which is good in terms of peace and quiet but quite inconvenient especially since the shuttle bus runs at very inconvenient times (pic attached). They should run them more frequently, not sure why there is a bus at 7.30pm which cuts right in the middle of dinner time, otherwise have to wait again until 9pm. Also return timetable doesn’t make sense either, we found this to be an inconvenience. Also the bus books out quickly during peak time. The food was 3/5. The Mediterranean restaurant was especially underwhelming, the main restaurant quite average as well. I would have expected better from the Intercontinental, I would advise against booking the dinner package as very limited set menu, half the time they didn’t even have some of the options available!
