Really nice hotel, great location right off the main drag, easy to get into and out of. The rooms are nice for Honduras, but a bit small. The music from the pool area was loud until late, which kept me awake, but it's Latin America, that's the unfortunate side effect of being here. I also didn't like that I rented two rooms and they didn't give us adjoining rooms, but I'm sure my kids were ok with it 🤣
Booked a room for 2 (my 17 yr old son and myself) with breakfast included using their IHG app. In the app, it stipulates that a child is 17 yrs or less. During our check in process, I was told that a 17 yr old was already considered an adult and, for that reason, his breakfast is not included, only mine, and I would have to pay an additional $25 for his breakfast. So I brought up the information on the IHG app and they said,, "Okay, we will give him the breakfast but now your room rate will increase."..... so, either way they were going to get their money. ... the other aspect of poor service is how difficult it becomes to change your stay. I was trying to change this stay, with 3 days in advance, for one day earlier because my work in Honduras was done earlier. The hotel wouldnt do it, they said I would get charged the full night if I didnt show on the exact day room was booked. Since I have status with IHG, I called IHG and explained, they had to send me a tier up in customer service for personalized attention to solve this issue. Only they were able to do it and it took them a full day to confirm it. Stay somewhere else, there are nicer and lower priced hotels around that area like the Hyatt, Hilton, Aloft, Copantl..... I visit Honduras quite a bit for business. I can confidently say this was my last time staying at the Intercontinental in San Pedro.
I used to stay at the Intercontinental San Pedro Sula regularly—more than 10 times a year—and trusted it as a safe and professional place for my family. Sadly, during my most recent stay, my two underage daughters were humiliated and asked to leave the breakfast area so another adult guest, who had just arrived, could take their table. The staff made this decision solely based on appearance, not fairness or respect. My daughters were in tears. We left the hotel immediately and submitted a formal complaint, which was completely ignored by management. As a mother and loyal guest, I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed.
