We stayed a couple nights in a two bedroom suite. The suite was lovely and the hotel itself is impressive in scale. I’m not sure if it is because we went during the off season but there was a feeling of abandonment within the entire premise. There are 5 restaurants advertised as open but most were closed when we went so we were glad we didn’t stay more than 2 nights or we would’ve exhausted dining options (expensive and average in taste). Our suites were also supposed to have lounge access but this was all closed when we stayed and we were instead given vouchers for free beverages. On a positive note, the hot springs are wonderful.
Our tour group stayed in the hotel for 2 days in July 2025. On date 25, just right after we checked in at around 7pm we went to the restaurant to have our dinner, we found that all the dishes were placed on the table without cover, the dishes and rice were not warm at all. After dinner, we back to our rooms, we felt very hot no matter outside or inside the rooms, and then we tried to set the air-conditioner, but in vain. We called the front desk for checking, they replied that no this facility in this weather, and just recommended us to open the balcony door and would feel better.... How come a 5-star hotel would not provide nice accomdation for their guest! Besides, the card key system could not duplicate workable card, for my case, I was unlucky to replace twice, finally they gave us three cards to try. Meanwhile, I need to go down and up for several times. Some of our groupmates told me that they had the same trouble. Really very bad experience in these two days!!!
The room is amazing. The view is unbeatable. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The list of negatives is longer than the number of words are allowed in this review. Here are a few highlights of the bad. 1) Of the 6 restaurants, only 1 is opened. 2) The lounge that I paid with points for, is closed. 3) The pool is extra and chargeable. Only hotel I ever stayed at, let alone an Intercontinental, had the pool chargeable to hotel guests. 4) The hotel staff, more than anything else wrong with this hotel, are absolutely trained to less than 1 star level. It takes extra training to come up with the numerous excuses and unables. It’s a masterclass of customer-disservice if there were one offered. Some might say the hotel is “Quiet”, but that’d be a nice word for a hotel in a downward spiral.
