So we went here today for a spa & afternoon tea and I hadn't been here in a while. Greeting was very friendly and professional by a lovely lady today who walked us over to the spa instead of just directing us which was a lovely touch 👌 The staff in the spa are also very welcoming and lovely, explain everything you need to know and give you a walk round. This spa is beautiful, extremely clean, well kept and checked regularly by staff, including the water in the pool. They have all the amenities you need to relax that you can think of, and also provide you with the items you need for pretty much everything from towels, body and hair products, robes and slippers. So really all you need is your costume and a hair brush 😁 Now the massage! Hands down the best massage I've had 👌 highly professional, friendly, great staff relationships in spa and hotel. The most relaxed I've felt in a long time. Afternoon tea was lovely 😋 served by the roaring fire by lovely staff, great personalities and really down to earth which makes you feel very comfortable 👍 And the exterior and interior of the hotel itself is just stunning with original features. Overall experience was extremely relaxing with a lovely ambience 👏👏👏 Will make it a regular treat 🤞
My husband and I stayed here as the last leg of our Scottish roadtrip honeymoon and it was somewhat disappointing. While the grounds and location were breathtaking, the service left much to be desired. Most of the staff seemed quite unhappy and our room was not serviced well at all during the three nights that we were there. While this would be something we could overlook, the price of the stay did not reflect the service that was given to us. Breakfast was underwhelming, “room service” items were unavailable to order, and overall atmosphere was not very welcoming. It seems that most of the staff that were hired to work there did not seem very happy. Again this would be fine but for that price one would expect more. Note that we are not snobs and during our stay in Scotland we stayed at a variety of hotels and b&b’s with much lower or the same price point where the service, food and hospitality was absolutely amazing. As I said, the grounds and the hotel and room in itself was nice, but overall service needs improvement at this price point.
Second time in the last few years when on a walk we tried to get coffee. No one that interested after 15min wait to get our order taken (we spoke to a nice lady in reception who said she would get someone to look after us) so we left. Maybe we are not important enough to matter but we won't be back (for coffee or a stay) or recommending to anyone who might ask about this hotel. Too bad as location looks fantastic.
