Had a wonderful experience here. We stayed here as a family of four and we are already looking forward to coming back. The hosts were very friendly and hospitable. They helped us find restaurants and find routes to shrines we wanted to visit. Easily a 5 out of 5 stars!

Jeugiya Inn is family owned and is operated Sei (father), Masumi (mother) and Bun (son). The area where guests stay was built by Sei's father and was originally part of the family home. The accommodations are traditional, very clean, comfortable and visually pretty and tranquil. Viewing the garden area is so relaxing and so is taking a bath in their large wooden tub that looks out onto the garden. Each family member is beyond helpful and extremely hospitable! Sei gave us a personal tour around the area that lasted almost an hour. Masumi and Bun helped us coordinate a dinner reservation at Kagetsu, a traditional restaurant in Nagasaki who only accepts reservations by hotel concierges and in Japanese. Sei also drove us and our luggage to the train station and pointed out the elevator entrance that would be impossible to find if you weren't a local. Masumi prepared exquisite, traditional Japanese breakfasts that tasted great and had beautiful presentation. The location was in a quiet area, but you could walk to numerous temples, shrines, restaurants and shopping areas. So convenient! I cannot recommend Jeugiya enough! Every aspect was a 10 out of 10! Things to be aware of... You are not given a key to your accommodations, but the family is always around and you can communicate with them when you're coming and going. They always greeted us when we departed and returned. You need to remove your shoes in the front of the home and wear slippers in the rest of the home, but you need to take the slippers off on the tatami mats. There are also different toilet area slippers. I'm sure most Japanese people are used to this, but it took a bit of extra effort for my husband and myself, to remember this. The family lays out the traditional bedding in the evening and removes it during the day. Also, if you're over 5 ft 8 inches there's a good chance you'll hit your head on the doorways. My husband did this several times, especially at night.

We enjoyed every part of our stay at Jeugiya from the moment we arrived. The kind and thoughtful hosts (a lovely family) welcomed us in with a homemade treat and shared the story of the gorgeous and historic inn. That evening, the owner walked with us through nearby Kyoto to point out its history and places of interest. This family provided the perfect balance of accommodation and privacy as we enjoyed the beautiful amenities at our leisure. Our only regret was that we did not plan to spend more time here! We will definitely return, and will recommend this inn to all travelers. Thank you to the Jeugiya family - we are so glad to have met you!
