Worried you won’t have a good home away from home to tour the island? Well, don’t be. This 5 star hotel is at least a 4 star in the eye of a harsh critic.
If you happened to be in Kinmen (which I think foreign tourists should really give this township a visit), this hotel is great. We booked the hotel via the hotel website and selected one of the packages offered by the hotel. Our room faced the lake, but due to dirty windows, it wasn't a good view. They offered movie tickets to view movies at the attached mall (part of the package), which was a great way to pass the evening as this is a sleepy town that doesn't appear much happens after 8 p.m. The front staff will order taxis for you and also connect you to taxi-tour guide service to tour the islands (both the big and small islands). My opinion is that this is preferred as it would save you time. The rooms were new and everything, including the inhouse restaurant, was good. We liked the breakfast buffet that came with the package. We also dined at the inhouse restaurant for dinners during our stay. One could do a la carte and the variety in the selection could let you eat something different three nights in a row. We felt that that the chef must have come from Hong Kong. The food had a strong HK flavor and tasted as such. This was the only place that I found Hong Kong style steam tofu dessert that was traditional. The garlic shrimp was good was well. The Cantonese food here was better than 99% of Cantonese food places in Taipei, but cheaper overall. If you are thinking of visiting Kinmen, this is the place you want to stay.
This is a fairly new hotel. It has a big duty free shopping mall. To me, items in the shops are more expensive than places I normally shop for the same item. Overall I enjoy the stay especially their buffet dinner.
