Had a wonderful stay at Juna Mahal Hotel, Ranthambore! The property is beautiful and peaceful, but what truly stood out was the hospitality. The staff was polite and attentive throughout. A special mention to Manohar Singh, who was incredibly polite and cooperative – made our experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Ranthambore!
This place should be considered when planning a stay in Ranthambore. Clean, hygienic and very functional staff. If we talk about the amenities, they have spacious rooms, a good swimming pool, spa packages, rajasthani folk music & dance, pottery. The property is huge including a separate bar area. Location is good although a narrow road of 1 km leading towards is in a very bad condition especially if you are visiting during monsoons. Food is also good but a little on an expensive side. Though there are plenty of options outside.
The first thing that struck me about Juna Mahal was the awful and uncomfortable approach road. Made worse by the prevalent monsoon. Once you get to the property, things do get drastically better. Juna Mahal is a midsized property with one central building and several small units spread across a couple of acres. Some rooms have plunge pools too. Though tightly packed, the property does have an interesting layout. A lot of staircases, doors and paths made it somewhat fun to explore. We stayed in a standard room in the main building. The room was large, well ventilated, bright and comfortable. Could be a notch cleaner though. The sofas were heavily stained and make for an unpleasant sight as soon as you walk in. One minor note on the room, the staff should show you how to use the artisanal lock on the door. They’re from another time and place and not simple to figure out. Keys are a bit too large to carry around too. The standout features of the property were the staff and food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Constantly checking in if we needed anything. The food was consistently good without anything being either too spicy or too bland. Only minor dissatisfaction was with the grilled fish with barbecue sauce. Why serve fish in the middle of a forest in the first place? Huh! We went off season, so the tandoor wasn’t operational due to low occupancy. I highly recommend changing the menu at these times cause half the menu was unavailable. Overall, Juna Mahal is fairly isolated but offers above par hospitality and food. I’m not sure what the size of other properties in Ranthambore are but given is size and services on offer Juna Mahal should not position itself as a 5 Star property. If we had lower expectations it would’ve an excellent stay instead of just a good one. Last note, and this is quibble with most hotels, do better than the ₹2/- sachets of Nescafé. It’s tripe.
