JW Marriott Charlotte

What could have been a stressful travel hiccup turned into a highlight of my trip. My flight was canceled, and I found myself spending the night in Charlotte with no luggage, feeling under the weather, and completely exhausted. I chose to stay at the JW Marriott Downtown—and it was absolutely worth it. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt calm, modern, and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable despite my situation. Kishia checked me in and not only took great care providing a complementary upgrade. She also hand walked me to the elevator and ensure that I had toiletries despite not having luggage. My room was spotless, beautifully designed, and had the kind of bed you just sink into after a long day. The downtown location was perfect, and the property had an elevated vibe that made my unexpected stay feel like a mini getaway. I left feeling rested, recharged, and genuinely impressed. I was able to have a phenomenal steak dinner at Dean‘s Italian steakhouse located on the bottom level with another extension of exceptional service. Regardless of whether you are at Dean’s, the Carolina oyster bar or Aurora‘s rooftop nightclub the vibes were on 100. Highly recommend—whether you’re in Charlotte by choice or by chance, this JW Marriott delivers an exceptional experience.

We stayed July 3-5, 2025 and it was a wonderful experience. Sharnise was so charming and thoughtful. We loved our accommodations, but nothing beats that rooftop lounge, bar and pool. I don’t know how, but they managed to keep the climate comfortable even though it was over 90 degrees outside! They must screen all of their employees for charm, because it is in abundance. Executive Lounge offered fabulous amenities and lots of different spaces made it feel quite private.

Great location and beautiful property. I was disappointed in that the images online made this place seem huge! The rooftop pool is NOT scale of the images. I should have known better, it is a city property but I was hoping for a nice getaway to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Staff were all helpful, it was clean, etc and we obtained a daily destination fee which included a credit for $25 toward drinks, etc. Would I stay again? Not for $300/night out of my pocket. Also we got the city view "high" as we had received the tip to not book in the pool area due to noise. It was a lovely room.
