JW Marriott Hotel Guadalajara

We stayed here for the first time recently and had a great experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and has a quiet, serene atmosphere that is great to come back to after a day of exploring the city. The staff is attentive and helpful. At one point I asked about a salon recommendation for a blowout and the concierge arranged for a stylist to come to my room and do my hair there. Alex in the main restaurant learned our breakfast order in just three days that we were there! The location is convenient; it is close to a large avenue but still walkable.

There is no doubt the hotel is beautiful. The lobby is welcoming and the rooms are spacious. There are some restaurants right next door that are delicious! There are even more restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute walk. The daily cleaning service was also a really nice touch. Unfortunately, the AC in my room could not be turned down below 20 degree. The AC also came on and off at random times making it difficult to sleep. Between the heat and the noise it was tough to get rest at night. Also, the morning of my check-out, I went to shower and had no hot water. Even though there are some good things about the JW Guadalajara, I would honestly struggle to ever recommend anyone stay there given so many other options in the city.

AC stopped working twice during the night. First time at 2:15am I called reception but nobody picked up, so I walked down to the reception to tell them about the situation. They sent a technician to fix the issue. The technician did something on the thermostat and the AC started working again. Second time, I was awoken again at 4:30am from the heat. Called the reception, they sent the technician again. This time he brought a heat gun with him and sure enough, the AC wasn’t blowing cold air. He did something on the thermostat and AC is back to blowing cold air. Let’s see for how long. This is the last thing one expects when staying at a hotel on a business trip. Would not recommend this place!! End of stay update - I ended up changing rooms twice and none of the rooms were cold enough. AC on all day still the room doesn’t get cold. I have stayed in innumerable hotels and this is just not okay. You cannot have a 5 star hotel and something as basic as the AC not be up to the standards. I somehow managed to sleep each night without a blanket. Given so many amazing hotel options in the city, I don’t know why anyone will choose this hotel
