Came here for a weekend trip with friends and their families (we all have infants/toddlers) and our stay was awesome. Even the basic rooms were very nice and spacious, plenty of amenities, hotel staff was amazing and very accommodating. The pool/lazy river was perfect for everyone. Our little ones had a blast in the kiddie and beach pool. Even us dads had fun riding the slides. Poolside bar did take a little bit to get drinks but was not the end of the world. All the food here was fantastic as well. For being a resort I’d say all food was reasonably priced. The buffets at Cibolo Moon were awesome for both breakfast and dinner. My only complaint about food was there was not very many options for breakfast if you’re an early riser. We had a 7:30 am tee time and aside from Starbucks, there was nothing else for us to eat breakfast. Aside from this, we absolutely loved our stayed and will definitely be heading back in the future.
So we decided to bring our kiddos for a last summer trip to JW Marriott Resort. We use to visit regularly and the resort was fantastic. We have since moved away and haven’t been here in ten years. My feeling about the resort are mixed. When we arrived the valet was chaos! There was people everywhere and it felt chaotic. Our check in was smooth and Andre was just wonderful. Super friendly and very talkative. Our room was great and very clean. The pool was was absolute ridiculous. There was so many people. All the seats were taken or reserved with towels. We later found out that people leave and leave their towels and no one really picks up after themselves. The pool areas and around lazy river was so dirty. There was cups, empty beer bottle, and empty food containers everywhere. For $600 a night you would expect at least for a resort of this size to be at least clean. It was a very disappointing stay. I will say that our waitress was so attentive and did mention that they had 900 rooms booked Saturday night. You could defiantly feel that the resort was overwhelmed and not enough workers. Also had a encounter with lady at valet Ty. She was very rude when I confronted them about our 25 minute wait to get our car because their QR ( to retrieve car) was not working. Sadly I don’t think we will return.
Gosh I wanted to love this resort. We used points to book our stay and I am so glad because it would not have been worth it had a paid full price. Upon checking in, I went all the way to my room only to have the keys not work so I have to carry my one year old all the way back down to get them fixed. The room itself left a lot to be desired. The stopper in the sink was broken, the drain in the tub was clogged and the refrigerator struggled to keep up - so much so that we filled up a cooler to ensure that my breastmilk stayed cold enough. The rooms clearly haven’t been updated in a while and have been well loved. We also had to fight to have the room serviced despite being out of the room majority of the day. We also ran out of toilet paper and there were no extras in the room. We have a one year old who goes to bed at 7:30 so we spend much of the evening in the room. Aside from that the pool was fantastic especially during the week days, if you want to use the pool on the weekend it was madness with so many people. The food and drinks were on the pricey side but were very good. I went to the spa and had a great time and my husband played golf and loved it. If you are going to spend time at the pool, spa, and golf absolutely go to this resort but know that the rooms will be less than stellar. Had we not used points for the stay I would have been very disappointed with this stay due to the state of the room.
