Wow. This place has a beautiful view. We absolutely loved our stay and all of the amenities here. We ate breakfast every morning, including when we had to leave super early for an excursion and they packed us a breakfast. We booked the hot tubs during our stay. I could not say enough about how wonderful every single detail of our stay was. We would love to come back.
We booked our honeymoon at Kamana Lakehouse, drawn by its promise of serene luxury and breathtaking views. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a significant construction project directly in front of the hotel, which severely disrupted our stay. While the hotel’s homepage mentions ongoing construction, the information is not prominently displayed, making it easy to overlook. This lack of clear communication felt misleading, especially when booking a special occasion like a honeymoon. The construction noise was relentless, starting early in the morning and continuing throughout the day. It was impossible to enjoy the advertised tranquility, and the views we had anticipated were obstructed by cranes and building materials. Our room, which was supposed to offer a peaceful retreat, felt more like a front-row seat to a construction site. We were not alone in our disappointment. Other guests have reported similar experiences, with reviews highlighting the intrusive noise and obstructed views due to the construction. To the hotel’s credit, they provided us with a refund after two nights, allowing us to find alternative accommodation. We moved to an Airbnb cottage that offered the peaceful and romantic setting we had initially hoped for, complete with unobstructed views, a hot tub, and a fireplace. In summary, while Kamana Lakehouse may have potential, the ongoing construction significantly detracts from the experience. I would advise potential guests to inquire directly about the status of the construction before booking, especially if a tranquil environment is a priority.
Booked Kamana for a post elopement treat, but for the $775 NZ price tag I regret it. The room however neat and tidy, was tiny and realistically incredibly overpriced. I honestly feel I could’ve gotten better for my $$ elsewhere. Directly out of our room was a noisy construction site that started from first thing in the morning making trying to relax, or even sleep in difficult. We also felt quite uncomfortable leaving the blinds open to even enjoy the view as the restaurant looked directly into our room. In the room, there are offers of a nice “pod” coffee, however if you want milk you must ask reception for; which after a long day of getting married we honestly couldn’t be asked to retrieve - is it hard to leave a small amount in the rooms fridge when you know you have guests checking in? We attempted to book (months in advance) for dinner at their restaurant “The Nest” for us and our 8 guests however was quoted 4.5k (apparently with a discount!). We obviously went elsewhere. In reception, the lounges were visibly stained. On returning from dinner offsite we had, what we assume was a staff member as they went into the undercover parking behind a garage door, we were rudely told to hurry along whilst getting out of our taxi…. Great display of professionalism. For the price, I suggest staying elsewhere.
