The hotel is rather far away from the action in Aso and there are no convenience stores within walking distance. The hotel seems like a popular family hotel with many families arriving via their rental cars. However there’s also a shuttle out to the city. We did manage to grab a deal for around $340 for two nights for 3 people including breakfast and dinner, and for that it’s incredible value. The rooms were clean and had all the necessary amenities, luggage management may become a problem as there’s little extra space after you lay out the tatamis for the night. Also our fridge didn’t seem to work during our stay, which wasn’t a big issue for us thankfully. The breakfast and dinner buffet had a respectful spread of Japanese food. The beef skewers at dinner were absolutely fantastic and a must try. The service was really delightful. Most staff speak English but even those who don’t will use Google Translate to help you in any way they can. Do note one of the onsens is undergoing maintenance from June to July 2025 so there are different timeslots for men and women. There was also no cold water onsen, so you have to shower with cold water instead if you get too hot during your time in the onsen. Lastly, you get a 500 yen coupon for the gift shop, there’s a large meadow outside the hotel with some pretty impressive views of the night sky and plenty of entertainment options (from tennis rackets to RC cars).
The hotel is pretty new and the stay there was great. Comfortable rooms and great Onsen bath that’s clean and spacious. We even felt that the water is more natural than the one we went to in Yanagawa. My skin felt softer and cleaner. The hotel’s half board serves buffet for dinner and is a very good spread / selection of food with good quality. I took a morning walk around the neighborhood and saw different blooms during this spring and absolutely made my day. Explore the area, these are pretty sights that we don’t get to see often.
Very nice hotel, onsen was nice (there's a outdoor onsen) Very nice to have activities for guest. We did candle making and there was supper provided after dinner. Which is very nice to have. It was tatami style of bedding but was comfortable too! Overall thumb up for this hotel! Staffs are friendly as well...
