Kamenoi Hotel Kochi

A bit impractical to get to, but a fantastic place to relax for a few days. Excellent kaiseki dinner and evening ramen. Perfect for experiencing the local foods of the kochi region

There was some issues with conversing with the staff at night (there is not much english speaking staff) as we needed help to get the police due to a small car accident for insurance claims. However Mr Morida (morita) san went out of the way to ensure our group is well supported by him and his staff even though there is a language barrier. It was really heartwarming that that he was really concerned and involved and help us through the whole local police process with smiles, affirmations and support. A big thank you to this great manager and his trying staffs (to help us translate to the local police) for his service and hospitality when we are lost in the a foreign land after a long driving journey in Shikoku. He ensures and assists us again before we check out and set off the next day that he had taken care of our incidents for us and even offered to help us call the car rental company should we need his help. A really good hospitality for a commercial ryokan with a manager that takes care of his guests like how a family run ryokan does. With this we really love how he handles and manages with care and love for his guests (beyond that of language barrier)

I wouldn’t say this hotel is very convenient if you aren’t driving. Even the convenient store (Lawson) is abit. They have a public hot spring and they have one also outside, you can get the the bath robe at the lobby according to your size. They serves a bowl of free ramen as night snack in their restaurant. REMEMBER TO TRY IT! It’s so delicious!!! We have tried other hotels but this one is soooo good that my husband had to pay and order another one! They have 3 versions I think and they rotate very month. We had the spicier one but believe me it’s not spicy at all.(Japanese can’t eat spicy 🤫) Breakfast was normal, nothing special.
