My family and I stayed at Kaya Hotel in Izmir in July 2025. Overall, it was a memorable experience. We had very limited interaction with the front desk staff, as most of them spoke little to no English. We encountered an issue with our reservation that required us to pay an additional amount. Despite our efforts to explain our side, the front desk staff couldn’t understand us. There was a guest relations representative who spoke English and tried to assist, but in the end, due to multiple confusing currency conversions (from US dollars to Turkish lira to euros), we still had to pay extra—and never fully understood why. It’s unfortunate that a hotel of this scale doesn’t have fluent English speakers at the front desk. On a more positive note, the breakfast was absolutely incredible—high-quality food with a wide variety of options. The rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. One important thing to note: the hotel is located far from the city center. You’ll definitely need a car. We used Uber during our stay, but it became quite expensive, even with the favorable USD exchange rate, simply because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. That was on us for not checking the location more carefully when booking. In short, while we enjoyed certain aspects of the stay—especially the breakfast—we likely wouldn’t choose to stay there again due to the language barrier and remote location.
I stayed at the hotel for four nights and was pleasantly surprised by the facilities and conditions offered in Izmir. Although the building is a bit old, the rooms were clean and well-equipped, including a fully stocked minibar. One highlight was the nightly piano performance in the lobby from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, which created a delightful ambiance. The standout feature of the hotel is its two pools—outdoor and indoor—both filled with hot water, as well as a complete jacuzzi and spa. These make it an excellent choice for a relaxing stay, especially in the fall and winter. While the breakfast could be improved, as some items were not very fresh, the hotel's multiple restaurants and bars offered reasonably priced food and drinks. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel as the best option for the colder months in Izmir.
So I stayed in the thermal hotel for 1 night and 1 day - we had early checking and late checkout. When we arrived they notified us there were no clean rooms available. If we wanted to wait in the breakfast hall until our rooms were ready. - okay . Not a problem , but not a great start of our stay. The building is old and has a lot of perfumy rooms . People are friendly and helpful. So no issues there . But the rooms . Oh my god what a heat. The outside temperature was around 22 degrees and my room was facing the sun. Within a couple minutes after sunrise , the room became a sauna . 30-35 degrees inside at least . When I turned the cooling on , only hot air came out to heat the room even more . Forgot your sleep . Forget it . Window open made the room bright and noisy as it’s facing a busy children’s park and a busy road . If you can’t sleep with room full bright , excruciating temperatures and a noisy environment.. don’t come here for your rest. When I told the people about my issue they said ‘we will call you back’ they never did . I asked for a ventilator , a portable aircondition , a room change .. but no help could be provided . Sorry guys . You didn’t impress me with your service and rooms .
