Our 4-day stay at the Kimpton Alton Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome — warm smiles, helpful recommendations, and an easy check-in process set the tone for a fantastic experience. The room was spacious, modern, and beautifully designed with just the right touch of retro charm. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the large windows let in plenty of natural light. We especially appreciated the thoughtful details — a yoga mat, cozy robes, and great bath products made it feel like a true boutique experience. Location-wise, you can’t beat it. Being just steps from Fisherman’s Wharf meant we could easily explore the waterfront, hop on a cable car, or grab fresh seafood whenever the craving hit. We also loved being walking distance to Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39. The lobby vibe was relaxed and stylish, and the hosted evening wine hour was a great way to unwind and meet other travelers. Every staff member we encountered — from front desk to housekeeping — was professional, friendly, and eager to help. This was our first time staying at the Kimpton Alton, and it definitely won’t be our last. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish, and centrally located stay in San Francisco!
Really great stay. Hotel had a great vibe with excellent, friendly service. Rooms were clean and comfy with boutique styling. Bathroom showing its age just a bit with lose fixtures but the beds were very comfortable and the in room record player and vinyls was an awesome touch. Recommend for a central location with a more upscale feel in the lobby.
We stayed for a few days to explore the city before we did a road trip to Yosemite and down HWY1. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Free morning coffee and wine in the evening was nice. Breakfast at the on-site restaurant was excellent. As jet lagged Brits we felt well looked after and the staff helped us navigate the new to us city.
