Kimpton Epic Hotel By Ihg

Stayed one night before a cruise. During check in, the front desk rep was nice. She even gave my kid a hot wheels car and cotton candy. The room was comfortable and clean. The photo of the bed is after my child has jumped in it. I didn’t get a full appreciation of the property because I only spent a night. However, the area is surrounded by other hotels, restaurants and there’s a Whole Foods a block over. We were able to book a shuttle to the cruise port at an extra cost, but it took forever for the driver to get there even though we scheduled a time. All in all, I would recommend this hotel.

The property is very nice. Room was spacious and clean. Great downtown location. The issue? there was a pool party with loud music from 1:00 pm until 11:00 pm, TEN HOURS! The pool is on the 16th floor and our room was on the 21st. The room was literally vibrating from the DJ bass from when we checked in at 3:00 until 11. Also, we chose this hotel for the pool and it was closed for the party. When we checked in, we should have been informed given the option of not being on the side of the hotel with the loud party.

The room and location were great. Five stars to both. However our service experience was not great. Our room wasn’t ready until 530 with no explanation, no apology, no offer to comp anything or make the delay better. The check-in delay caused us to be late to our event. Then, when we returned from our event at 1 am, there weren’t any sheets or pillows for the pull out sofa and they had to be requested from housekeeping. We did not receive the items until almost 2 am. The shower never got fully hot and leaked water all over the floor causing a slip hazard. Again, no attempt to make things right or comp or anything. I seriously doubt I will ever stay at this hotel again because for $650 a night it’s not worth it.
