Wonderful experience. So much so we will be returning for 3rd time this month - and it’s a 4+ hour drive. Very friendly service. Also very dog friendly (all were very well behaved), nice restaurant, huge wrap-around porch, and a pool to boot. Don’t pass up this place if you’re looking for some relaxation on the Green Mountains with good restaurants nearby.
We love this hotel! It's the perfect location to walk into town, have a great meal or just enjoy the day by the pool. It is dog friendly, so if that's a deal breaker for you, know every time we stay there are always multiple dogs in the hotel.
Is this hotel worth $600 per night? Debatable. Did this hotel provide a perfect experience though dissuading us from ever wanting to stay elsewhere though? YUP, sure did. Absolutely lovely establishment. Almost makes you forget about that hole burned in your wallet! Do the rooms cure cancer? No. But they are exactly what you’d want: clean, well designed and furnished, and are sound proofed more than many other establishments. Amazing part: I don’t THINK motion-smoothing is enabled on the TV’s. You know, that “feature” that gives you eye cancer that 99% of hotels have hard-locked to ON? That. Expectations for TV’s to be watchable at hotels have plummeted to non-existent the past several years, but Kimpton Taconic has apparently made note to not visually torture their guests who choose to put on the TV. At least this was true for room 301. Does the “Mountain-View Room” upgrade give you a nice view? Well, what I will say is that it put us in the exact room we wanted—all the way upstairs at the end of the hall in a corner room. So can’t complain. No real Mountain View to speak of though—but maybe in the winter when all the leaves on the trees are dead. Rooms also have two robes, and an umbrella—both of which were clutch. Last point on the rooms: The climate control is very user friendly, and the sounds the AC makes were very gentle/pleasant as white noise where we were. Is the pool lovely? We loved this pool area. We lucked out with weather, and with how many people wanted to be at the pool. There can comfortably be maybe 10-12 people in the water (there were 2-8 when we went between 3pm and 5:30pm)—it’s a small pool...but not TOO small. But quite small. There’s also maybe 14-20 chairs. 2 were available when we arrived, so again lucked out for a perfect stay. Hours in July were 8am-9pm. No life guard. The restaurant was also very nice! The wait staff was excellent, and the food was quite good. While we were waiting for our reservation, we took a stroll up the street and just a couple blocks away was this absolutely georgous looking restaurant called the Silver Fork though—we’ll be heading there for dinner one evening at some point! Oh that brings me to location! Very very walkable town, that Manchester. We begun the day with a lovely stroll around town (did the river walk, went to the bookstore, ate at the cafe), before driving an extra 2 minutes to the hotel. Everywhere is connected with nice sidewalks. Great town, visually. The hotel did allow for us to check in early—2:00pm! Lucked out there (check in is set for 4:00pm). The hotel is SO pet friendly. Honestly, this almost makes the price feel worth it. Did not have to pay an extra $100 pet fee like many other places. You’ll constantly hear people talking about how pet-friendly this place is. Some will be out lounging with their dogs, while others will comment that that’s amazing but that they had to leave their furry spaz in their room. There’s a cute fire pit towards the entrance outside the hotel—was very quiet when we went, but lovely. The lounge spaces inside and outside are a big part of the charm of this place! They are loooovely. We enjoyed a couple nice reading sessions, as well as some gaming sessions with corn hole, and checkers. The dog was present for both! Oh! We were also provided two vouchers for “social hour,” which guaranteed us two glasses of wine (or beer?) between 5 and 6pm, provided by a kind worker who was set up just outside the first elevator for the hour. Loved this. Encouraged people to be hang out and enjoy the evening. Didn’t even mind when a fly dive-bombed into my drink before I was halfway done. Again, loved this place. Would absolutely stay again. Did feel like we lucked out with several elements, which makes me feel like next time I stay here, we’ll be subconsciously comparing everything to our first perfect visit. But it’ll be a risk we’re willing to take. Probably several times. But that’s more on our expectations rather than the establishment. TL;DR 10/10, would stay again.
