Kinderhotel Stegerhof

I had high expectations for Stegerhof and they managed to exceed them. I was especially impressed by the level of service from the moment the train station elevator doors opened and the shuttle driver recognized us. The highlight (beyond the stunning location) is how conveniently close everything is. I also appreciated how laid back and flexible they were at check-in and check-out, that we could still use all the services after check-out.

Our family had a great time; our first in a kinder hotel (the concept doesn’t really exist in the US). The kids loved having so many things to do. It took a day or two for the children to be comfortable with the kids club, but we eventually got there. The food was great (my favorite night was the Styrian local fare — our 15 month old, who usually doesn’t eat much solid food, ate an entire plate of Kaiserschmarn!). My only recommendations would be to open the kids club before 0930; our children usually wake up around 0530-0600. Also, it would be better to not have the smoking areas under any room balconies, some people may need to dry their clothes or towels on balconies and may not want their clothes smelling like smoke. Also, being near smoke is incredibly dangerous for children.

Very very nice service and staff. A nice concept and several nice activities in the nature for the whole families. The rooms were a bit outdated for this kind of price and the location is somewhat isolated. The biggest issue is that at 22:00 all facilities including bar are closed and there so much to offer for parents, whose child goes to sleep late. I expected a bit more in terms of what we can do after bed time. The other guests in the hotel are 90% Austrians or German speaking so also not so easy to chat or make small talk. All in all is a great hotel, but depending what you are looking for with this kind of price.
