So incredible. The whole stay is an authentic experience that I enjoyed so much. The rooms are simple, yet felt so fun to be in an adventure. The food is authentic Japanese and our group loved trying flavors and items we’d never imagined trying before. The baths here are so deep and soothing at night. If you’re someone who needs their comforts and western familiarities this may not be the place for you. But if you like adventure and get real joy out of authentic experiences, I highly recommend.
We recently stayed at Kinjohro and had a mixed experience. The best part was the staff — they were genuinely exceptional: warm, attentive, and clearly committed to making guests feel welcome. The rooms were also massive, and with so few other guests during our stay, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, which made for a peaceful and private atmosphere. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t match the price point. The property feels very outdated — not in a charming, historical way, but in a way that suggests it’s overdue for renovation. For what Kinjohro charges, you expect a level of refinement and comfort that just wasn’t there. Dinner was beautifully presented but underwhelming in flavor, and cost ¥60,000 for two people. Breakfast was similarly average. Given the cost of the stay overall, the food and facilities simply didn’t measure up. In short, while the hospitality and room size were standout features, the overall value wasn’t there. Kinjohro has potential, but until it’s refreshed, I’d have a hard time recommending it at this price.
Somebody has stolen 15000 yens to my wife in his bag just before the checkout while we were taking the breakfast. Somebody came to clean the room during the breakfast. We are pretty sure because she counted her money left for the rest of her trip before eating. The person who did this just left exactly the amount of the checkout. It was just around 100e, but on principle we do not like this kind of behaviour. Also, the dinner was good but not excellent and doesn't explain the huge price announced. This was our most expansive hotel in Japan but not the best. In all cases, since we have been robbed, we cannot recommend this place.
