Just returned home after a weeks stay. I can say the food at the restaurant was lovely with plenty of choice, the restaurant manager always was on the go and looked very glamorous doing it. The lads that worked the bar were so good, they were all lovely and never had to wait long for a drink. The entertainment team were fantastic! A great bunch of people. However when dealing with the hotel manager when we were trying for several days to try to keep our room on as we were flying at midnight, told us it wasn’t her problem there wasn’t one available and we were lucky we was allowed to use the facilities on our last day was shocking to say the least especially when we paid for it!! A very rude lady. Air conditioning another subject. There is none, well not that they want to put on anyway. There’s plenty of vents about that are not used. There is none escaping the heat, so you are sweating breakfast, lunch and dinner! Also the poor waiting staff was soaked through to the t-shirts. And when you think that can’t get any worse, don’t think your aircon is going to work in your room that well either!! 3 times we asked to have it sorted and it wasn’t. The pool is lovely however it’s the deepest pool I’ve ever been in. There is no shallow part, so being 5ft, water Zumba wasn’t going to work for me unless I was going to do it under water. A tui rep was never on site, I’m actually at the point where I think what exactly do they do. And how they can advertise this as a 5 star hotel is beyond me. Even though it was clean, it’s very tired and needs updating. Also space round the pool was very tight, you had Random people squeezing in virtually on top of you. For us it was a nice break but would not return here.
I dont Even know where to start.. But who ever gave this Hotel 5 stars should be fired. Actually when we booked this Hotel throu "Spies" they showed it as a 4 star Hotel but even that would be in the low end. So when we got there and had to pay Hotel tax for a 5 star Hotel i was pretty surpriced. It was 210 Euro for 14 days. I am a chef. And been working as a chef for 15 years. The only good Thing i have to say about the food was the salat bar. For 14 days we had the same food with minimum variation. So sad for a 5 star Hotel. The lady in the reception could care less about the Hotel guest. She looked and acted like she did not want to be there or if the guest where having a good stay. The only Thing I would day was ok was the size of the room. Other then that I would not recommend anyone to go to this Hotel. You Will be greatly disapointed. We stayed in a actual 5 star Hotel last year on Crete and compared to this place it was like Hevean and Hell. Maris Suites beeing hell ofcourse. Kos is a beautifull island and its worth visiting. Just dont stay at this place.. Reply to their answer: yes I asked the chef how they made some of the food. But not becouse i was interrested in any recipes. I never asked for recipes and i never got any recipes, so thats simply not true.. Anything is got in that buffe i could make better myself.
I am one of those people who had (overall) a negative experience in this hotel. I don't even know where to start but long story short, I am sure there are much nicer hotels in Kos (with a nicer beach as well!) so please consider very well before you book this - definitely not a 5 star - hotel. As stated in many other reviews, hotel is in dire need of a renovation. Rooms are spacious, but dated - especially the bathrooms, it's like stepping back to 90s (old tiles, stains - even from killed spiders, bath is so used there is a stain as well, etc). Air conditioning worked well but it was very loud. I had to go to reception basically every day as we regularly had issues - got less towels than we should have, room wasn't cleaned, got ants in the room (ants are everywhere here, by the way), and I even had prove with pictures that all the other rooms had a drying string for clothes besides ours before we also got one. (The reception staff claimed first the drying string are only on the balcony which is a lie). This all spoilt especially first days of our holiday. Pools are nice but there are almost no security measures (it's hard to get to the big pool, the pool is equally deep everywhere, tiles are slippery and the anti-slip tapes everywhere around are peeled off and overall a joke, really). I attach the pic of the tapes. The lack of security measure is concerning, as we were travelling with small kids and an elder person. I also once fell down because the grass was being watered but most of the water went to the path, tiled with the slippery tiles. I sat there for a while, among the ants, but since nothing happened to me, I let it go. Beach is bad too. Big stones (so it's unpleasant to get to and from water) and all over the beach there are some dried leaves (seaweed or maybe platanus trees, don't know). Sunbeds are once again, dated and with stains. But the sea is nice and clean, that was a plus, what's not good is the beach. There is a "beach bar" on the beach which is just a parked car (see the pic) and is open by our observations for less than 3 hours a day, in the afternoon. They only have soft drinks, nothing else. The guy who works there spends part of the time when the "bar" is open going around the beach and checking people's bracelets, so you also have to wait for him to be serving at the "bar". This is incomparable to services in many other hotels. On the plus side, staff is overall nice (maybe with exception of reception from my experience). The bartenders are polite and quick, and make very good cocktails. The restaurant staff is also nice. Greetings also to the animation team - our daughter enjoyed the kids club and the dancing for kids every evening, and all the animators were very nice and not at all pushy as in some other hotels. Food was very good, the food and the cocktails were highlights of our stay. Very tasty food, all through our stay, sometime with themed dinners (Greek, Mexican or Asian cuisine). Hotel is also located close to Kos town and there is a bus going there. I recommend the visit of the town, it's quaint and offers good opportunities for shopping for local goods (like spices, thyme honey or leather products), clothes and souvenirs. Overall, this hotel was a disappointment and our time there cost me a lot of time and nerves, which was definitely not what I wanted when I picked it for our holiday. This was my only holiday week in a long time and I left with mixed feelings. I have traveled many times and several times to Greece as well, so I know it can also be better. Please consider before you book this hotel. There are much nicer places - in Greece and overall.
