Our stay at Kithala Resort in Kataragama was truly a highlight of our trip to Kataragama and Yala! 🤩 From the moment we arrived until we left, the staff provided exceptional service and made us feel so welcome. We were particularly impressed by how they went above and beyond to help us resolve a booking issue we had with the Agoda app. They handled it with incredible professionalism and efficiency, ensuring our check-in was smooth and stress-free. Beyond the excellent service, we absolutely loved the resort itself. The food was delicious and the overall service was brilliant. The swimming pool was a perfect spot to relax, and the natural, beautiful environment of the resort made our stay feel like a peaceful escape. We can't recommend Kithala Resort enough! ❤️
The hotel itself is lovely, with a beautiful pool overlooking the rice fields – a truly relaxing setting. However, the restaurant is a major letdown. Prices are significantly higher than in nearby accommodations or local restaurants, yet the food quality is far below expectations. Even simple dishes like burgers and pizzas are poorly executed. Despite the presence of multiple chefs in fancy hats, this unfortunately does not translate into quality on the plate. A disappointing dining experience that does not match the standard of the rest of the hotel
The hotel is set in a beautiful location, with a lovely pool right by a pond, offering a peaceful view over the rice fields – a truly relaxing spot. Our room was okay, though the layout felt a bit impractical. We did enjoy the private terrace with comfortable seating, which added a nice touch. The bathroom was rather small and felt a bit dated. The shower tended to overflow, and there was a strong, almost overpowering smell of cleaning products, which was a bit unpleasant. On the positive side, the restaurant was good, and we enjoyed the dinner we had there. We can't comment on the breakfast as we left early for a safari. Overall, a pleasant experience, with some great features and a few areas that could use improvement.
