Knockranny House Hotel & Spa

This was our first stay at this hotel. Exceptional, excellent, amazing, beautiful! From first arriving and checking in the entire front desk staff outstanding. The bellman were excellent and very helpful. The room was outstanding and very spacious we absolutely loved it! The food was excellent! I cannot believe this is a 4 star hotel! This is absolutely a 5 star hotel. We will be back next year and this will be the only place we stay.

Great, large and comfortable rooms, very friendly and attentive staff in all areas. Calm and relaxed. A lovely spa and a fantastic pool. Super breakfast with a view. Beautifully maintained grounds around the hotel. A great place to stay at Westport.

I really do not recommend this hotel for families, especially young children despite it being described as family friendly on the website. 1. The hotel layout does not allow for easy access with a buggy. There are 2 lifts but one of them doesn’t go to reception. The only ramp access to and from the hotel reception is through a heavy emergency door - very hard to manage with a buggy. The room numbers don’t match the floor numbers, room 220 for example was on floor 1. 2. Some of the staff were amazing and helpful, others not so much. I felt several times like my children were a hassle to the staff like at breakfast for example. I was made to feel like they were being too loud. 3. Children can only use the pool in the morning and aren’t allowed use the games room. There are no other facilities for children that I was aware of. 4. The food itself was only ok, very expensive for what it was. €25 for a burger in the bar and the service was very slow. 5. Smart TV in the bedroom which was great but we booked a family room but that had no bath. All in all, I wouldn’t stay again.
