I enjoyed the "Portopia" hotel. Peaceful location, which is great after the bustle of downtown Kobe. Wonderful breakfast w/ great views on the top floor of the hotel. Special shout out to the guy making the beef soup, so good! Room was nice & spacious, three beds for my wife, self, & son. The lobby was really nice, spacious, with a waterfall wall. Room was clean & quiet. Enjoyed the stay!

Stayed here for a conference. The rooms on the 23rd floor are nice but the bathroom is outdated. For a hotel that caters to international conferences they are so poorly adapted for other languages. They provide very little and outdated information for the hotel on my check in. Only on day 3 did I get accurate information when I enquired that would have saved me a lot of time, money and hassle had I received it on day 1. They don't advertise well that there is a free shuttle from the train stations. It isn't on the reservation and I couldn't find it on the website before booking because I looked to check. I ended up paying for a taxi. When I complained, even the manager couldn't find the information, it took her time to find it on the website despite knowing where to look for it. On day 3 I had to wait in a ticket system to access breakfast. The hall wasn't even half full. Nothing was labeled in English for breakfast on the basement floor. You can't tell which allergen is what when you have two things labelled pickled veg according to Google Translate but one with one with wheat and one without and plates aren't aligned with the labels. Very little offering for those that are gluten free and/or vegan with very poor allergen control or awareness. Food overall is very disappointing in taste. When breakfast was available on the basement floor they had gluten free hash brown and potato. When breakfast moved to the second floor, I asked if they had it and was told "no" even though I saw them serve someone else it as it wasn't in the buffet. You have to pay extra to use the spa/sauna and pool even with certain upgraded rooms. The cost is ridiculous. There is only the option to pay for 7 hours which is pointless if you're staying here for work or conferences and don't have the full day but also who's going to spend a that many hours in a sauna and tub? Overall very poor service for a 4 star hotel.

This is a hotel you get for the instagram likes not for vacation. The lobby is extremely luxurious, looks more like a mall, with 3 restaurants. All the money is spent on the lobby and not the rooms. Beds are stiff, the couch is more comfortable, and the fridge didn't work, had warm water everyday. Worst of all I payed for breakfast everyday and they screwed me over. Everytime I showed up at 6am, they said it was reserved even though I paid an extra 100 for breakfast everyday.
