The hotel is great. Rooms: tidy and clean, some items are not new, but they still look nice. Staff: smiley and kind, they will help if you have any questions. Pools and sauna: they have separate pool areas for males and females. There are classic and menthol sauna which I highly recommend. Also there were two water slides, so we had lots of fun. When you enter the spa area you will get a special cap to protect your hair. Food: perfect! Huge variety of dishes, amazing sweets and pastry. The hotel is located outside the Afyon, so you need to take a taxi/bus to the city.
The hotel's location is very convenient in terms of accessibility. You are greeted with a warm smile at the entrance, but unfortunately, I can't say the same for the reception staff. Our room was given to us an hour late, and when we asked for information, we were met with indifferent responses like "I don't know" and annoyed expressions. The first room we entered had malfunctioning lights, and the room cards we were given didn’t work either. Thankfully, they changed the room for us. The room service staff were very attentive and kind—thank you for that. The food was great, and you definitely won’t leave hungry. They cater to everyone, including vegetarians and those on a diet. However, the desserts could be improved; some of them had a noticeable watery taste. Additionally, it was frustrating to see that every drink we had with our meals was charged separately. Regarding the pools, facilities that used to be free have now become paid, which was disappointing. On the bright side, the spa was excellent and could be further improved by adding more facilities. The Korel Cafe was very nice, and the staff there were attentive and friendly. However, during dinner, the staff seemed overly eager to take away our plates without even asking if we were done, which was a downside. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for us. Love from England!
It is a stretch to consider this a ‘5-star’ hotel. I’d say it is a 4-star hotel with a 3-star buffet. Staying at this hotel means having your life structured by lists of rules—room keys must not be lost or you face a €10 fee, specific elevators must be used if you are in a bathrobe going to and from the pool area, head coverings must be worn while swimming, meals are served at specific times. A 5-star hotel should offer a luxurious experience, not the experience of surveillance and rule following. Additionally, hallways are dark, smell bad and are peppered with dirty clothes, dirty dishes and peeling carpeting. Meals are served in a buffet which is enormous (which is awesome) but many of the foods are cheap and of low quality. Imagine a breakfast bar with bowls and bowls of canned fruit in syrup, a large beverage area where the only coffee available is from a Nescafe machine and juices come from a concentrate juice dispenser that frequently seems to be out of concentrate. Not bad…but very much mediocre. You can probably find something you’d like to eat but most of what you put on your plate to try you’d rather not finish. I think the hotel is overpriced given the quality of food and service provided, but it is not horrible. Bedding seems clean, the showers work well, and the pool area is nice to swim in. Overhead not bad.
