Kristall Palace Hotel

Let me start by saying that getting a 5 star review from myself is not easy. I have high standards and usually believe there is room for improvement. I was really very pleasantly surprised by this hotel, especially after reading some of the reviews it was exactly what we needed. After a slightly disastrous holiday in Italy finding ourselves without accommodation and so having to bring our flights forward we found this little gem of a hotel situated in a very convenient location. The hotel was very quiet as it was a Monday night but I could see there had clearly been an event over the weekend. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite, not our typical experience of Italy. The bedrooms were spacious and had everything we needed. We always check for bed bugs; there were none. The whole hotel was clean, the room was clean others saying otherwise must have had a very different experience to us. The bed linen and towels were all very clean, even the headboards. The beds are amazingly comfortable. Very good powerful shower and no temperature issues. Air conditioning unit was in good working order. We had a lovely balcony which we sadly did not get chance to use. We had great service at the bar, which is open all hours with comfortable seating areas and a variety of drinks on offer. The prices were incredibly reasonable. Our room included breakfast. I have to say I was slightly disappointed when I thought all I was getting for my breakfast was a croissant and some pre-packed toast and jams. However, I asked for some ham, tomatoes, cheese and juice and ended up being overwhelmed by all the food brought to us. If you ask for something more substantial they will provide it. I do not speak Italian to request these either but the staff always have a translate app available unlike many other hotels we stayed. Also the tea was very good. We ate at the hotel in the restaurant during our stay. I fully recommend the food here. Very good prices, simple food cooked well and plenty of it. There is a cover charge, as we found everywhere, it is slightly higher but this includes bruschetta, bread, oil & balsamic, water and fruit - these have all been add ons in other restaurants bar the bread. A very relaxing and peaceful experience. Literally nothing to complain about. We were given late check out and again the staff were very helpful with the bags and assistance. Thank you for giving us such a positive experience to end our holiday on.
