It was nice being right by the beach which was relaxing. They have a nice pool but we were at the beach mostly. The Bali beds at the beach you have to buy a bottle and spend a certain amount of money for you to be able to rent it for the day. The food or desserts weren’t the best in the buffet not the restaurants. The buffet should have more options for breakfast. Not worth all inclusive for drinks as you’re mostly drinking mixer not really any alcohol in the drinks. We found a roach in our room our first morning. I was given VIP status but was never informed about it nor any of the perks until the last day when they left a card on our table. Someone woke us up early to go down to get a gift they had. Once I spoke to them, the gift was only if we go to a meeting and have them talk to us about the perks on becoming a rewards members and a tour but only in the mornings for a couple hours. Reminded me of what they do to get you to do a timeshare. The beds are very hard in the rooms and not comfortable at all. On our first 2 days after housekeeping came we had to call for towels because they weren’t replaced. Needless to say I wouldn’t stay here again. Location was convenient but not worth returning.
Very nice, clean rooms in the club Krystal area. The rooms have everything you need, towels and mini bar constantly being refilled, but a pity there is no beer or wine in the mini fridge. It means you cannot have a drink on the terrace before dinner. Mary cleaned our room and did an excellent job. However, the AC unit must be filthy, as me and my partner both got very sick from sleeping with it on. Annoying that some nights the music in the lobby would turn off at 21.30 and that they stop selling alcohol at 22.50. Alejandro in mediterraneo restaurant stood out most, so friendly and kind and always refilling drinks etc. Our meal in mediterráneo was also good quality compared to snack bar/ buffet food. Cruz was also super kind and helpful in las velas restaurant, where the food was also good. Hacienda el mortero was a super good restaurant amazing atmosphere but the food did taste a bit like the buffet food (the fajitas). However the flautas with barbacoa were very good and service amazing too. The staff were generally very nice and helpful, but most of the time unless you are in a restaurant, you do have to ask for help. They don’t seem particularly grateful for tips either, they seem to be expected considering most of the tourists there are American. But for someone from a culture where tipping is not necessary, it’s not nice when they barely say thank you. Drinks are super sugary but they do put a good bit of alcohol in them. Beer from draught wasn’t great, and if you wanted a can you had to pay premium price even with all inclusive. Overall, it’s a good place to stay if you have low ish expectations, it has everything you need. Plus the beach is amazing and never gets sea weed. The best part of the hotel is probably location. But don’t come here on all inclusive expecting luxury. Also don’t come on all inclusive for more than 4 nights as there is only 3 restaurants and 1 buffet. We enjoyed our stay but we wouldn’t come back. Also, when booking I noted it was a surprise trip for my boyfriends birthday, and they didn’t say anything or do anything nice for us on check in, they even gave us a room on 2nd floor knowing this, which I think was pretty mean. Even the most basic hotels will do something nice if they know there is a birthday/anniversary.
Decent hotel for the price you pay. The Krystal is more of a budget friendly resort in Cancun, and you’ll get exactly that. The hotel itself is very clean and decent sized, meaning everything is close, the beach, the pool, your room, the buffet. The location is great, you’re right next to the nightlife of Cancun, but is also a very big downside. I had a room ocean front, which cost more, right next to the beach club and could not sleep. It was only Wednesday night, and the music was blasting all night. The food in the buffet isn’t the best either, very little selection, not much flavoring. There also seems to be very few places with a/c. The place I found to be the coldest and felt the most refreshing were the bathroom at the Fisheria restaurant. The entertainment is fun and has activities throughout the day, but when it comes to the night, they end everything by 9pm. Probably so you go to the clubs right next to the hotel.
