Loved the lobby views, restaurants, gift shop, concierge, staff! Rooms were a little outdated. Had to step up to get into bathroom so easy to trip. Layout was a little tight. Room was very humid. Air conditioning was fair.
Had a good stay here back in February. Beautiful lobby with very attentive staff. A minibus runs about every 30 mins to and from the station, recommend confirming before you arrive in Kyoto what time the bus will come by to save having to walk from the station with your luggage. Rooms felt slightly out of character with the lobby as they were noticeably older. Was still very clean and quiet, but not on the same level of fancy as the lobby. Our room was long and narrow, so felt a little cramped. Was still a good stay in any case.
The hotel offers excellent comfort and design. You can reach Kyoto Station via the hotel’s shuttle service, though it’s a bit far from popular spots like Gion and Nishiki Market. Breakfast is superb—especially thanks to the gentleman in the dining room who greets everyone with a warm smile. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed. Note that the clientele is mostly older women, so you may want to consider that when booking. When I asked if I could check in an hour early because my stomach was hurting, the receptionist said yes—but that I’d have to pay an extra fee; aside from her, there were no other issues.
