True to its name La Escondida is a hidden gem with absolute charm. The winding roads uphill are an adventure in them selves and if it’s night time can be pretty much but all is worth it upon arrival. Helpful and welcoming staff. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and all possess a rustic element which enhances the experience. A great escape from the city. Enjoy the views, the calmness, natural trails and a short trip away from the beach but you can enjoy the beautiful pool both inside and outside. Along with the spa. Also great food is available on site. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I thank all personnel from this hotel for an enhancing our honeymoon experience.

First time here. Front desk gentleman from Bulgaria was very welcoming. I have a service dog, they charged the $12 euros a day regardless. The restaurant staff was very nice and attentive, we enjoyed dinner and breakfast. Room was beautiful, corner one. Suggestion: More pool cushions should be available. Since it was sunny and warm, I was surprised outdoor pool was not available. Also, surprised no cocktails were available. Regardless, we will be back, beautiful place.

This was our experience of the Hotel La Escondida and the email we sent upon our return, which the Hotel has failed to respond too! Dear Maria We came to stay at your hotel last Friday 3rd November as a special birthday treat for my wife. I booked your hotel specifically as it had an indoor pool that we could use if the weather wasn't warm enough to sit out, the website pictures made it look beautiful and after a few stressful weeks, we wanted to just relax. It was also advertised as an adult only hotel and children over 13! However, on arrival we asked to see the indoor pool and was told that the heating had failed and the water was only 22 degrees!!! She explained that it had been like it for a couple of days. We still went to have a look and it was very unwelcoming. No cushions on the beds (as in the pictures), no warm feeling and lacking any sort of amenities such as drinking water, towels etc. Knowing that you had an exisiting problem with the pool, which obviously affected the heating and water in the hotel too, out of common courtesy, you should have contacted us and cancelled the booking prior to us arriving or at least given us the option to change our dates. When we arrived, the weather was quite cold and my wife who never normally feels the cold but felt under the weather, said how cold our room was and so we turned the heating on. We were told it would take about an hour to warm up but over an hour later, the room was still very cold and so I went to reception to find out what was happening. I was offered another smaller room which was warm but had a strange smell to it and we were only in it for about 5 minutes when the gentleman from the room next door knocked and asked if we had any hot water. My wife went to test the water at which point not only did we have no hot water but we barely had any water!! It trickled out and so I went to reception again to complain. Whilst in reception, my wife wandered down and was chatting to a family - two children both under the age of 13!! They told us that they had not had hot water that morning either and still hadn't. They also said they had eaten in the restaurant the night before and had to send all their meals back as they were cold and inedible. By this time, we were both very frustrated and angry that what was supposed to be a special weekend was turning in to a nightmare with no real satisfactory outcome and so I asked for my money back but was told this could not be done, as the receptionist was not authorised to do so. I also asked to speak to a manager and was told they were not available and as by then I was so upset with the poor treatment, we decided to leave anyway so packed up at 7.30pm and left very angry, stressed and disappointed in the whole experience. Since then, no one from your hotel has called to apologise or to discuss the matter or the refund. I have the numbers for the other people staying in the hotel who were also very upset with the situation. This was not a cheap hotel booking and it is disappointing that the service has been this appalling. The young receptionist tried her hardest but was not equipped with any proper support to deal with the sitiuation and as the manager, you should have been available to talk to and authorise a refund. I understand hotels have problems but it is clear that this hotel is definitely no longer 4* as advertised and requires a lot of attention to bring it back to its former glory of the previous owners. Therefore, I request a full refund of the booking as it was not the luxurious "hidden gem" it is being portrayed. I will pursue this further if you do not provide a refund. I await your response.
