La Menara Hotel & Spa

wonderful hotel. we stayed most of our time in the Medina, which I don't regret. But we ended at this place and it's really very, very nice in every aspect.

Overall a great hotel with the best view of Sidi Bou Said. Super value for a 5* compared with other hotels nearby. The staff are the hotel’s biggest asset and they care about the guest experience - especially Karim, he’s excellent. 8 guest rooms total, each is meticulously decorated and the boutique style is classy & unique. The hotel is only 1.5 years old and has all modern amenities. There is a steep hill (15min walk) into SBS town which is only an issue if you don’t have car/taxi. To improve: - WiFi very inconsistent through my entire week stay, especially on lower floor. - Breakfast was disappointing, it is not clear what options are available as there is no menu, and the buffet style is only on weekends. Some items are put out day-after-day and are visibly stale. - On one day, the owner had his family at the hotel, who occupied the entire pool area for a few hours and were very noisy, with children shouting and jumping in the pool. Inconsiderate to the paying hotel guests, maybe this is normal in Tunisia but I thought it was unprofessional for a 5* hotel.

The hotel is in a great location but our problem was the noise there was no sound proof whatsoever between rooms we can hear everything. We couldn’t sleep all night and 9 am we woke up with drilling and hammering noises when we called the reception they told us there is a wedding preparation as it means we can’t do anything. We went down for breakfast and all the view was ruined with woods and tools everywhere plus the noise. We didn’t have a good experience unfortunately.
