Lovely stay, the building is massive with security-reception at the main entrance and full of camera, make you to feel safe. The apartment is big, specially the living room, plasma tv, Wi-Fi, a/c full equipment kitchen and bathroom. The bed was comfortable and clean.
This is a report of our disastrous and very brief (9 hour) stay at this accommodation bought via Booking.com who have a maze like Customer Support and do not seem to offer a direct email address so you can send photos as proof. We were so appalled when we arrived that I complained immediately and then later as more problems problems arose in order to keep a full and proper record of our experiences. Our arrival at the Perle de l’Atlas, hereinafter the PDA, was very unprofessional and unpleasant. Furthermore, the surroundings and the condition of the apartment we encountered upon arrival were so wildly at odds with the reviews we had read on Booking.com, where PDA were given a terrific a rating of 9.4, were the reason why we immediately decided to move on to another Hotel at the earliest possible moment. We arrived at 21-00 and were very tired (I am nearly 80) and it was too late to move on, so we made up the very narrow bed (circa 1.4m) and slept fitfully until 4-00am. Upon waking I phoned our Taxi driver Jamal at 4-15am and offered him a very good fare to collect us at 6-00am and to take us to the Savoy Grand Hotel, which we booked with Booking.com who gave that Hotel a rating of 8.7, meaningfully below that of the PDA, yet it was very good indeed. The comparison between those ratings and the different reality of our experience is absolutely incomprehensible. Upon returning to the UK, and in response to the PDA’s boastings of its 293 reviews, I turned to the website section ‘See all 293 Reviews’ read them extensively and found them implausible for a number of reasons. They are not in simple date order, but mostly in language groupings, the first long group being surprisingly lengthy and in good English despite being made by people from many countries but the thing that stood out most was the very high consistency of the ’10’ ratings. I compared them with many of the Savoy’s 9722 reviews and found the pattern of review to be very different, they are very much punchier and to the point, none of the overly fulsome wordy praise directed at the Hotel and Abdu the manager (or so it seems. The pictures give you a feeling of what a hovel it was!
Avoid at all costs! Apartment has kitchen but everything is disconnected so you cannot use anything. Lift needs a pass key so you can't use that either. Horrible view out of the window. Very bad value for money. Go somewhere else.
