La Pérouse Nantes

Amazing time at this hotel. I had noted in the original booking it was for my girlfriend's birthday and we had balloons and petals on arrival. The room was very clean and the staff were lovely. Really enjoyed the self-service coffee and tea bar. Location was super central and a lot of places we wanted to go were within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Would recommend this over most chain hotels in the area!

We have stayed in a total of 3 hotels over the past week as we necessitated to travel around. La Perouse was, unfortunately, the worst of the lot. Marketed as a 4-star hotel, they are trying too hard to be different, and most of these changes are uncomfortable. For starters, security is an issue, you haven to return the key every time you leave the premises. The problem is that the reception will give you any key you ask for without requiring a name or ID. We only stayed 1 night, but I would have been very concerned if I stayed longer. Secondly, in a 4 star, you expect good air conditioning, especially in mid-June. Our AC was set to 'heat' only, meaning no cool air came out of it no matter how much you played with the settings. Finally, whilst in each section of the corridor, there are only 3-4 rooms, and the door offers little soundproofing. Other hotels we stayed in (3 and 4 stars) had double doors, which offered total sound blocking. Having said this, the staff was nice, the rooms were clean and spacious. So credit is being given where it is due. As a conclusion, for the price I would not recommend this hotel. Other 4 stars in the area are better, more practical, slightly cheaper, and have a good AC.

My recent stay at this hotel was quite disappointing, falling far short of its advertised 4-star rating. The rooms are uncomfortably small and narrow, with furniture haphazardly arranged, making movement around the room awkward and inconvenient. The mirror placement only allows you to see half of your reflection, adding to the frustration. The condition of the room is concerning, with visible wear and tear on the walls that urgently need repair. The bathroom is in a deplorable state, with mold visibly present on the showers and walls, raising serious hygiene concerns. One of the most inconvenient aspects was the lack of available drinking water in the room. Despite having a fridge, guests are required to go down to the reception area to get a glass of water, and are not permitted to bring a water bottle back to their rooms. Additionally, the air-conditioning system is non-functional and covered in dust, making the room uncomfortable and stuffy. To make matters worse, the radiator on the wall is poorly installed and hangs precariously, adding to the overall sense of neglect. In summary, this hotel does not meet the standards of a 4-star establishment, with its numerous maintenance issues. I would not recommend staying here until significant improvements are made. Room service did a great job with changing the towels and making beds. Most of the receptionists were very kind and helpful
